Job Description

We're seeking a Systems Designer to build, maintain, and evolve our design system—the shared foundation that powers consistent, high-quality, and scalable user experiences across our digital experiences. This role sits at the intersection of design, systems thinking, and operations, combining craft with process to ensure design quality and velocity scale together. As a hands-on owner of our design system, you'll manage component libraries, documentation, and supporting resources that enable product teams to design efficiently and cohesively.

Key job responsibilities
Design System Ownership

* Own and manage centralized design system files, including components, patterns, tokens/variables, and styles across platforms
* Ensure system parity between design and code libraries in partnership with engineering
* Maintain governance and versioning for components, ensuring consistent usage and backward compatibility
* Drive system adoption through education and enablement initiatives


Documentation & Resources

* Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for components, guidelines, and best practices
* Produce resources such as templates, accessibility checklists, and usage examples
* Partner with content designers to ensure consistent tone and terminology
* Develop and maintain component specifications and implementation guides


Cross-Functional Collaboration

* Work closely with Research, Design, Engineering, Brand, and Channels teams
* Participate in component reviews, accessibility audits, and release planning
* Support design adoption through workshops, demos, and office hours
* Collaborate on system roadmap and contribution model development

A day in the life
The Integrated Demand Center drives unified customer experiences that deliver measurable global outcomes. Our Marketing experience team establishes the foundation for digital experiences and content strategy by analyzing performance metrics, transforming customer insights into actionable solutions, and creating frameworks that enable AWS teams to deliver impactful content. As design system experts, we ensure consistency and efficiency across our digital presence through:

* Managing and evolving Figma design system components
* Creating comprehensive documentation and implementation guides
* Leading design system reviews and working sessions
* Providing expert guidance on component usage
* Tracking adoption and incorporating user feedback
* Developing training materials and conducting workshops
* Collaborating with engineering teams on technical standards
* Maintaining quality control through component review processes

About the team
Studio X creates data-driven customer experiences across AWS's digital platforms. Our collaborative team includes Visual/UI Designers, UX Designers, Researchers, and Writers. As AWS's center for design excellence, we maintain brand consistency and develop scalable design systems for digital marketing. The team’s talent spans North American from Seattle to New York to Mexico City, and partners closely with global teams.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

- 4+ years of delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer experience
- Have an online portfolio or samples of work on resume, demonstrating experience creating great end-to-end, user-centered design solutions and patterns, across desktop and mobile devices
- Experience building and maintaining design systems at scale
- Expertise in Figma’s design system architecture including styles, variables, components, and properties.
- Experience with user-centered design methods and design thinking- Experience in system design
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Experience with design tokens and component frameworks

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
