Overview

SpaceX is hiring an SMT Rework Technician to support PCBA rework and repairs. You'll work with high-difficulty boards and collaborate with engineering on new product development. This role requires 3+ years of electrical and PCBA rework experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 3+ years of experience in electrical and PCBA rework or repair, demonstrating a strong understanding of surface-mounted technology and the intricacies involved in handling complex electronic components. Your background includes soldering and de-soldering through-hole and SMT components, showcasing your technical skills and attention to detail. You are familiar with IPC and/or JSTD certifications, including IPC610, IPC 7711/7722, or JSTD-001, which highlight your commitment to quality and industry standards. You possess the ability to read, interpret, and work from layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, and schematics, ensuring that you can follow controlled documentation and processes effectively. Your excellent concentration and attention to detail enable you to achieve outstanding work efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. You thrive in collaborative settings, working alongside engineering teams to develop new products and improve existing processes.

Desirable

While not required, having additional certifications or experience in related fields can set you apart. Familiarity with conformal coating, masking, epoxy application, and coating processes would be beneficial. Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly of PCB assemblies into product chassis is a plus, as it demonstrates your versatility and capability in handling various aspects of electronic assembly.

What you'll do

As an SMT Rework Technician at SpaceX, you will be responsible for supporting the rework of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) that come from various Starlink Production Departments. Your primary tasks will include soldering and de-soldering components, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality and precision. You will also support conformal coating, masking, and epoxy application processes, contributing to the overall integrity of the electronic components. You will work closely with the engineering team to assist in the development of new products, including PCBAs, harnesses, and test rack systems, playing a crucial role in the innovation process at SpaceX. Your ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation will be essential as you self-monitor your work progress against area benchmarks, ensuring timely delivery of all tasks. You will be expected to maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail, as the work involves intricate repairs and modifications that require accuracy and efficiency.
