Affirm is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to enhance application performance and reliability. You'll work with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes to implement best practices in incident management and observability. This role requires experience in systems engineering and a strong understanding of distributed systems.
You have 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a related field, demonstrating a strong understanding of how to operate and maintain complex systems. Your background includes hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, and you are proficient in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. You possess a solid foundation in Linux systems and are familiar with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus. Your experience with infrastructure as code tools, particularly Terraform, allows you to automate and streamline deployment processes effectively.
You are a proactive problem solver who thrives in high-pressure environments, capable of driving incident management processes and ensuring system reliability. Your communication skills enable you to engage effectively with engineering teams, guiding them in best practices for application performance and reliability. You are passionate about building resilient systems and are always looking for ways to improve operational efficiency.
Experience with chaos engineering and load testing is a plus, as is familiarity with configuration management tools. You have a keen interest in emerging technologies and are eager to learn and adapt to new challenges in the SRE space. Your collaborative spirit and ability to mentor others make you a valuable addition to any team.
In this role, you will be responsible for defining and implementing frameworks for operating applications at scale. You will guide the development of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and ensure that teams have the visibility they need into application performance. Your expertise will drive the incident management and analysis process, helping to minimize downtime and improve user experience.
You will engage in architectural discussions, providing insights that shape the future of our systems. Your recommendations on observability and alerting configurations will be crucial in enhancing our monitoring capabilities. You will also play a key role in change management and deployment practices, ensuring that all changes are made with minimal disruption to services.
As part of the SRE team, you will collaborate closely with engineering partners to foster a culture of reliability and resilience across the organization.
