You have at least 5 years of experience in an engineering management position, ideally managing engineering managers. Your track record includes successfully hiring, mentoring, and growing strong geographically distributed software engineering teams. You are committed to building and fostering a diverse and inclusive team environment, understanding the importance of different backgrounds and viewpoints in driving innovation.

You possess deep domain knowledge in database engineering, particularly in storage engines, and have a passion for tackling complex challenges in data storage technology. Your leadership style emphasizes collaboration and accountability, ensuring that your team is motivated and aligned with the company's goals. You are adept at navigating the intricacies of modern hardware architectures and software algorithms, which are crucial for achieving extraordinary performance in intricate applications.

Desirable

Experience with open-source projects, particularly in the database domain, is a plus. Familiarity with performance optimization techniques and modern storage solutions will set you apart. You are also comfortable working in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and on-site collaboration effectively.

What you'll do

As the Director of Storage Engines at MongoDB, you will lead the Storage Engines team, focusing on the development and optimization of WiredTiger, our cutting-edge open-source storage engine. You will collaborate with a diverse team of database engineering pioneers, leveraging their expertise to drive innovative improvements and performance optimizations in our storage layer. Your role will involve working closely with peer core database teams to unlock exciting new features that enhance the robustness and quality of our product.
