Verkada is seeking a Hardware Sustaining Engineer to ensure the reliability and manufacturability of their hardware products. You'll work closely with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to drive compliance and resolve field failures. This role is based in San Mateo, CA.
You have a strong background in hardware engineering, with experience in sustaining engineering processes that ensure product reliability and manufacturability. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive engineering changes and component qualifications. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills enable you to effectively manage product compliance programs and address field failures. You are familiar with global certification processes and have a keen understanding of supply chain dynamics.
Experience with quality assurance processes and familiarity with various hardware components will be advantageous. Knowledge of compliance standards and certifications in the hardware industry is a plus. You are proactive in identifying potential issues and have a track record of successfully leading projects from inception to completion.
In this role, you will lead the execution of hardware sustaining projects, focusing on quality, reliability, and compliance. You will collaborate with the certification team and third-party labs to ensure that products meet global standards. Your responsibilities will include managing early field failure investigations and return merchandise authorization (RMA) processes, reporting on findings, and implementing corrective actions. You will also work on second-sourcing strategies to enhance product availability and cost-effectiveness.
You will be the key point of contact for engineering changes, ensuring that all modifications are documented and communicated effectively across teams. Your role will involve analyzing data from field failures to identify trends and areas for improvement, ultimately contributing to the overall success of Verkada's hardware products. You will engage with various stakeholders, including engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams, to drive initiatives that enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
