Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in networking, compute infrastructure (e.g., servers, databases, firewalls, load balancers) and architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments.
  • 6 years of experience in project management and technical solution delivery.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time, as needed, for client engagements.
  • Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with one or more third-party networking products (e.g., PANW, Fortinet, VMWare Cloud Foundation).
  • Experience in scalable networking design, including high availability, redundancy, fail-over, and load balancing.
  • Experience troubleshooting networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTP/S), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
  • Experience in customer-facing migration, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations.
  • Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.

The Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services team guides customers through the moments that matter most in their cloud journey to help businesses thrive. We help customers transform and evolve their business through the use of Google’s global network, web-scale data centers, and software infrastructure. As part of an innovative team in this rapidly growing business, you will help shape the future of businesses of all sizes and use technology to connect with customers, employees, and partners.

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will guide customers on how to configure and deploy their Google Cloud infrastructure consisting of identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, billing, and more. You will consult with customers on how to best design their cloud applications for optimal scaling including CDN design, load balancer setup, caching, compute optimizations, continuous integration and delivery pipeline, and more. You will travel to customer sites to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower customers. Additionally, you will work closely with Product Management and Product Engineering to drive excellence in Google Cloud products and features.

In this role, you will work with Google’s customers on cloud networking projects that transform business. You will provide consulting, program management, and technical expertise on customer engagements, while working with client executives and key technical leaders to deploy solutions on Google Cloud Platform. You will also work with Google partners to deliver joint consulting services, providing technical guidance and networking best practices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

  • Propose solution architectures and manage the deployment of cloud networking solutions according to customer requirements and implementation best practices.
  • Work with customers to design and implement Cloud based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations that enable business objectives.
  • Work with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package approaches, best practices, and lessons learned into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets.
  • Interact with business, partners, and customer technical stakeholders to manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks and issues, and timelines for successful client outcomes.
  • Travel up to 30% for in-region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
