Overview

Waymo is seeking a Lead IT Network Operations Manager to oversee the operational health of wired, wireless, and fleet networks globally. You'll manage a high-performing team and drive incident management processes. This role requires expertise in network operations and vendor management.

Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in network operations management, demonstrating a strong ability to lead teams and ensure the reliability of complex network systems. Your background includes hands-on experience with Cisco technologies and Linux environments, allowing you to troubleshoot and optimize network performance effectively. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to build strategic relationships with external connectivity partners and manage vendor contracts efficiently. You are adept at incident management, evolving processes to prevent recurrence and improve operational excellence. Your leadership style is collaborative, fostering a high-performing team culture where mentorship and career development are prioritized.

Desirable

Experience in the autonomous driving or technology sector is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud services such as AWS. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in staying updated with the latest networking technologies and trends. Your ability to analyze data and forecast operational expenditures will be invaluable in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will build and lead a high-performing Network Operations team, focusing on recruitment, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews to ensure operational excellence. You will manage strategic relationships with external connectivity partners, overseeing contract renewals and service level agreements (SLAs). Your responsibilities will include driving the incident management process, evolving it from simple ticket ownership to comprehensive post-incident reviews that prevent recurrence. You will serve as the final technical escalation point for network issues, ensuring that operational execution meets the highest standards. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network strategies with organizational goals, contributing to the overall success of Waymo's mission.
