Sr. Director of Engineering – Core Database

Who you are

You have extensive experience in engineering leadership, particularly in database development, with a proven track record of driving architectural decisions and delivering high-quality software. Your background includes working with distributed systems and cloud-native applications, and you understand the complexities involved in building scalable databases. You are adept at leading teams, mentoring engineers, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

Your technical expertise includes a deep understanding of PostgreSQL and distributed database architectures. You have successfully managed large-scale database projects and are familiar with the challenges of geo-distributed data management. You are passionate about open-source technologies and have experience contributing to or leading open-source projects.

You possess strong communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable making strategic decisions that align with business goals. What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the engineering team responsible for YugabyteDB, guiding the architecture and development of the core database functionalities. You will oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, ensuring that the product meets the high standards expected by enterprise customers. You will collaborate closely with product management to define the roadmap and prioritize features that align with market needs.

You will be responsible for mentoring and developing your team, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers. You will implement best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence within the engineering team.
