Google is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer for Application Modernization to engage with clients and enhance their cloud solutions. You'll leverage skills in cloud native architecture and platform engineering while working in Auckland.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture and development methodologies. Your background includes modernizing legacy applications and application performance profiling and tuning in a customer-facing or support role. You are skilled at engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders and executive leaders, showcasing your ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
Your expertise extends to architectural design patterns and platform engineering, including Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, image management, and repository management. You have hands-on experience with virtualization and container deployments, ensuring that applications are secure and perform optimally. You thrive in building and maintaining customer relationships, particularly in Enterprise accounts, and are excited about developing Greenfield territories.
Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management and microservice frameworks is a plus. You are familiar with PaaS and have a solid understanding of software development in one or more programming languages, which enhances your ability to provide technical solutions to clients.
In this role, you will facilitate the adoption of Google Cloud products among educational institutions, government agencies, and businesses, helping them become more productive, mobile, and collaborative. You will listen to customer needs and deliver tailored solutions that enhance their operations. Your role involves problem-solving key technical issues for customers and collaborating with product marketing management and engineering teams to stay updated on industry trends.
You will structure and execute prototyping workshops to validate proposed architectures, develop best practices, and document requirements for prioritization with engineering teams. Your responsibilities will also include traveling to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required, acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud. You will play a crucial role in identifying opportunities for migration to hybrid-cloud computing models and ensuring that customers are well-supported throughout their journey.
