Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 5 years of experience in software development across one or more programming languages. Your background includes at least 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and you have a solid foundation in software design and architecture. With 2 years of experience specifically in software development related to deep learning, perception, or computer vision, you are well-versed in the latest technologies. Your technical skills include proficiency in C++, Python, and a strong understanding of Generative AI and Machine Learning frameworks.

You may also hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, and have experience in a technical leadership role for at least 1 year. Your familiarity with relevant ML frameworks such as JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch sets you apart, as does your experience with multimodal learning, large language models, or AI agents. You are knowledgeable about prompt engineering, few-shot learning, post-training techniques, and evaluations, and have a grasp of large-scale model training and deployment.

What you'll do

As a Senior AI Research Engineer at Google, you will be tasked with developing next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect and interact with information. You will work on specific projects critical to Google’s needs, identifying, implementing, and shipping the latest modeling innovations, including orchestration, multimodality, tool integrations, memory, hybrid agent architectures, and personalization. Your role will involve demonstrating concepts through rapid prototyping and iterative development, collaborating closely with the XR product teams to ensure successful outcomes.

You will engage in software design and architecture discussions, contributing your insights to enhance product functionality and user experience. Your responsibilities will include defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for your projects, measuring success, and iterating on designs based on user feedback and performance metrics. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within your team.
