Overview

Turion Space is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect systems for spacecraft control and develop AI infrastructure for autonomous satellites. You'll work with technologies like Java and Machine Learning in Irvine, CA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building complex systems that require real-time processing and high reliability. Your background includes working with mission-critical applications, and you understand the intricacies of spacecraft operations and the challenges involved in developing software for such environments.

You possess deep expertise in Java and are comfortable with various programming paradigms. Your experience includes designing and implementing scalable systems that can handle large volumes of data and complex computations, particularly in the context of aerospace technology.

Your knowledge of machine learning and computer vision is strong, and you have experience integrating these technologies into software solutions. You understand how to support autonomous operations and have worked on projects that involve real-time decision-making based on data from various sensors and sources.

You are familiar with cloud infrastructure and have experience building systems that leverage cloud capabilities for scalability and performance. Your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, and product managers, is one of your key strengths.

Desirable

Experience with satellite systems or aerospace technology is a plus, as is familiarity with orbital mechanics and satellite tracking. You are also encouraged to apply if you have experience in developing user interfaces for complex systems, as this role may involve creating interfaces for operators to manage multiple spacecraft.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Turion Space, you will be responsible for architecting the next-generation Mission Control systems that will be used to command real satellites. You will design and implement systems that visualize satellite constellations and automate complex mission sequences, ensuring that operators can manage multiple spacecraft with ease.

You will work on building real-time systems that predict orbital mechanics and support autonomous operations, integrating machine learning models for tasks such as debris avoidance and anomaly detection. Your role will involve collaborating with other engineers to create hyper-performance systems capable of tracking millions of objects in space.

You will also be tasked with developing interfaces that allow operators to control spacecraft efficiently, ensuring that the systems you build are user-friendly and intuitive. Your contributions will directly impact the commercial space economy, as you help create the platform that will support future space missions.
