SpaceX is hiring a CMM Source Inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts and assemblies. This role requires travel up to 75% of the time and expertise in quality assurance processes.
You have experience in quality assurance and inspection processes, particularly in the aerospace or manufacturing industries. Your background includes performing visual and dimensional inspections on mechanical parts, assemblies, and materials, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and industry standards. You are detail-oriented and capable of selecting and utilizing standard gauges to ensure quality. You understand the importance of documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements. You are comfortable traveling up to 75% of the time to supplier sites, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining high standards in quality assurance.
Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming and setup is a plus. Familiarity with inspection plans and corrective action processes will enhance your ability to support suppliers effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to drive continuous improvement of processes both internally and at supplier locations.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex inspections on purchased mechanical parts and components at supplier sites. You will ensure that all parts meet SpaceX specifications and standards, documenting any non-conformance as necessary. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with teams to develop inspection plans and supporting the supplier corrective action process. You will provide guidance to both internal and external stakeholders on SpaceX requirements and inspection processes, ensuring clarity and compliance. You will also lead projects aimed at improving inspection processes and quality assurance standards.
