Job Description

Amazon EC2 - Commercial Software Services (CSS), own and operate a range of Tier 1 products and services for AWS EC2. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join our team based in Seattle, WA, United States.

The role leads a team of talented software development engineers to design, develop, deliver and operate global Services. You will shape the team’s roadmap and work closely with large Enterprise Customers, Product Management, Support, Senior and Principal Engineers along with other Managers with in the AWS.

You will leverage your experience and unique skills to grow Engineers individual’s careers and deliver impactful Projects to our Customers. You are open to learning new skills, growing your career, being mentored, and mentoring others.

As a part of this role, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of Software Engineers, fostering career growth, maintain a culture focused on the growth mindset.
- Have end to end ownership of Product(s) and Service(s).
- Manage new Projects/Features and Operations across your team’s software.
- Interface with your customers and stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress.
- Manage the agile development process and methodology to deliver value to customers.
- Help develop long-term development and business technology strategies.

About the team
The EC2 Commercial Software Services team is responsible for customer-facing services and features that enhance the EC2 Instance lifecycle experience. Our mission is to provide a reliable, scalable, and user-friendly service that enables our customers to own and operate their workloads on AWS at scale. We are a passionate, collaborative team that is dedicated to solving complex engineering challenges and delivering new features that delight our customers.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
