You have a background in mechanical engineering, with experience in assembly operations and mechanical testing. You are familiar with writing procedures for validating and qualifying mechanical subsystems, and you understand the importance of documenting anomalies during integration and testing. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Your hands-on experience with mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) and operations in aerospace or similar fields sets you apart. You are detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement, ensuring that all mechanical operations meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Experience with lunar vehicles or space systems is a plus, as is familiarity with CAD software beyond AutoCAD, such as SolidWorks. You may also have knowledge of welding techniques and tube bending processes, which are essential for the role. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for aerospace technology will help you excel in this position.
As a Mechanical AIT Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical operations related to the Nyx vehicle. This includes setting up facilities and MGSE, as well as executing assembly operations and conducting tests on mechanical subsystems. You will write detailed procedures for testing and validation, ensuring that all processes are documented accurately. Your role will involve close collaboration with the AIT propulsion team to ensure that all mechanical operations are executed smoothly. You will also be tasked with identifying and resolving any anomalies that arise during integration and testing phases, providing feedback to the AIT manager to facilitate continuous improvement.
You will participate in the development of the Nyx vehicle, contributing to its modular and reusable design. Your insights and expertise will be crucial in refining operational procedures and enhancing the overall efficiency of the team. You will report directly to the Principal Engineer and the Future Systems Lead, playing a vital role in the success of the project.
