Job responsibilities
As a SDE-2 on the team:
You will own end to end implementation of large customer facing products, starting from design, architecture through implementation.
You will participate in designing and implementing key functional areas of our system including applications and platform services.
You will own designing and building functional components, including code reviews, testing, deployment and post-launch monitoring
You will get an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams across Amazons website, ecommerce and merchant technologies platform on the design and development of core platform functionality
You will work with the business team and project managers to start with ambiguous and challenging problems, convert them to functional requirements and build detailed technical specifications.
You will work with engineers both onsite and offsite to define technical tasks and build detailed implementation plans.
You will own operating our products, driving excellence in feature stability, performance and flexibility.- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience;
- 3+ years of Software Development experience;
- Strong, object-oriented design and coding skills
- Solid software development background including design patterns, data structures, test driven development is a plus
- Experience with web technologies, digital advertising a plus
- Experience with distributed systems, algorithms and relational databases is a plus
- Software development experience in building highly scalable applications is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; leader / owner mentality and an entrepreneurial drive
- Experience with Agile (SCRUM, RUP, XP), OO modeling, web services
- Experience in leading and training the engineering community on complex technical issues
- Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, and a consideration for scale, efficiency and performance
- Proven track record of delivery
- Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
