Overview

SpaceX is hiring an Automation & Controls Engineer to design and activate systems for the Starship launch hardware. You'll work with PLC code and SCADA infrastructure at Cape Canaveral. This role requires hands-on experience in automation and control systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in automation and control systems, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing critical systems for launch operations. Your expertise includes architecting, writing, and debugging PLC code, ensuring that your code is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for manufacturing applications. You are familiar with designing and maintaining SCADA infrastructure, and you understand the importance of a robust controls network infrastructure that interfaces with data acquisition systems. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working alongside elite engineers to improve and innovate systems that support space exploration.

Desirable

Experience with industrial control systems and a solid understanding of electrical systems will set you apart. Familiarity with the aerospace industry and a passion for space exploration are highly valued. You are proactive in seeking solutions and continuously improving processes, and you have a keen eye for detail that ensures high-quality outcomes in your work.

What you'll do

In this role, you will participate in the design and development of new and existing control systems that are critical to the launch organization. You will be responsible for architecting, writing, and debugging PLC code, emphasizing the generation of organized and maintainable code for manufacturing applications. Your work will involve designing and implementing the controls network infrastructure and interfaces to data acquisition systems, balancing cost, complexity, and redundancy. You will also design, operate, upgrade, and maintain SCADA infrastructure at launch and production sites, ensuring that all systems function seamlessly during critical launch operations. Collaborating with a team of engineers, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of systems that support the launch of the world's most powerful launch vehicle.
