Hermeus is seeking a Software Engineer for their Mission Systems Engineering Team to design and implement software for high-speed aircraft. You'll work with C++ to develop the Mission Management System that integrates various mission subsystems. This role requires experience in software development and a passion for aerospace technology.
You have a solid background in software engineering, particularly with C++ — you've designed, implemented, and tested software solutions that integrate complex systems. Your experience includes working on projects that require collaboration with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together. You understand the importance of developing software that meets stringent requirements, especially in high-stakes environments like aerospace.
You are detail-oriented and have a strong problem-solving mindset — you thrive in situations where you need to troubleshoot and optimize software performance. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders allows you to bridge gaps and ensure that project goals are met. You are also adaptable, ready to learn new technologies and methodologies as needed to enhance your contributions to the team.
Experience with mission systems or aerospace software development is a plus — you understand the unique challenges and requirements of working in this field. Familiarity with autonomy solutions and telemetry systems will give you an edge in this role, as you will be integrating various subsystems into a cohesive platform.
As a Software Engineer at Hermeus, you will be a key player in the Mission Systems Engineering Team — your primary responsibility will be to design and implement the Mission Management System (MMS). This software platform is crucial for integrating mission subsystems, autonomy services, operator interfaces, communications links, and telemetry for our high-speed aircraft. You will work closely with internal teams and third-party providers to ensure that new capabilities can be rapidly incorporated into the MMS.
You will engage in the full software development lifecycle, from initial design through implementation and testing — your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of our aircraft systems. You will also participate in code reviews and collaborate with other engineers to maintain high standards of software quality and performance.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the team — sharing your knowledge and experience will help foster a collaborative and innovative environment. You will also stay updated on industry trends and advancements in aerospace technology, ensuring that Hermeus remains at the forefront of high-speed aircraft development.
At Hermeus, you will be part of a mission-driven team focused on revolutionizing air travel — our work directly supports national interests and enhances capabilities for the Department of Defense. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional development and growth within the company. You will work in a supportive environment that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence in engineering.
Join us in our mission to build the future of high-speed flight — your contributions will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of aerospace technology.
