Overview

Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of systems for manufacturing intelligence. You'll work with Machine Learning and Python to predict manufacturing costs and challenges. This role requires 8+ years of experience, including technical leadership.

Who you are

You have at least 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 4 years in a technical leadership role. Your background includes hands-on coding and troubleshooting, and you are comfortable adopting a 'lead by example' approach. You possess strong mentorship skills, guiding engineers across the organization to enhance their technical abilities. Your experience includes conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

You are familiar with the principles of Machine Learning, even if you do not have extensive experience in the manufacturing sector. Your ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams is essential, as you will be working closely with various stakeholders to develop innovative solutions. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are adept at rapidly iterating and innovating to meet the needs of the business.

Desirable

While not required, previous experience in manufacturing or a strong understanding of part geometry will be beneficial. You are open to learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies as needed.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the technical design and engineering of systems that predict and remediate challenges in manufacturing customers' parts. You will leverage Machine Learning model predictions, part geometry information, and customer data to accurately forecast manufacturing costs and identify suitable partners for production. Your hands-on technical leadership will involve actively coding, troubleshooting, and creating documentation and technical diagrams to support your team's efforts.

You will serve as a mentor to engineers across the organization, providing guidance and support to help them grow their skills. Your responsibilities will include conducting code reviews, ensuring code quality, and fostering a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to contribute their ideas. You will also be involved in the continuous improvement of processes and practices within the engineering team.
