Point72’s Economist Team serves as an integral part of the global economic research team, covering macro research in the US, EU, and Asia. The team provides macro views and research to our investment professionals to help inform investment decisions.

 

About the Economist Internship

We are looking for a bright, articulate, and motivated individual to intern with us during the summer of 2026. If you want to join a world-class investment management organization that operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and rewards talent with recognition and increased responsibility, then this is the right opportunity. During your time with us, you will gain exposure to and build your knowledge base on:

• Rigorous data compilation and statistical analysis of Asian economies and financial markets
• Building excel spreadsheets for economic data relating to Asian countries
• Contribute to thematic research shared internally with investment teams
• Use economic data sets and Bloomberg for data mining

 

Summer Internship Program at Point72

In addition to the learning and development you’ll receive in your day-to-day role with your team, as a part of our summer internship program you will:  

• Work alongside your fellow interns and be mentored by experienced professionals 
• Meet your peers through designated intern programming, volunteer opportunities, and social events 
• Attend sessions with senior leaders discussing their expertise and career paths 
• Get hands-on access to the wealth of tools and resources that Point72 employees use everyday
• Interact with groups and functions with unique responsibilities and perspectives on our industry
• Develop technical, writing, and presentation skills
• Participate in networking opportunities across the firm

 

What's required 

• Expected degree from Dec 2026 to August 2027
• Masters’ and PhD students are also welcome to apply
• Major in economics/finance preferred, with courses taken in macro/micro economics, econometrics, and statistics.
• A deep understanding of economic concepts and statistical models
• Ability to conduct economic data analysis
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical, writing, verbal communication, and technical skills
• A results-driven mindset and desire to have a career in the finance sector
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards
