Apple is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to support a critical payments application. You'll work with Java, SQL, and NoSQL databases to ensure the platform's infrastructure and scalability. This role requires significant experience in application monitoring and financial systems.
You have a strong background in Site Reliability Engineering, with a focus on maintaining high-availability systems. Your experience includes working with complex software architectures, particularly in financial systems, where you've ensured the reliability and performance of critical applications. You are proficient in Java and have significant experience querying and modifying data in SQL and NoSQL databases. Your familiarity with Linux environments allows you to navigate and troubleshoot effectively in production settings.
You understand the importance of monitoring and profiling tools, and you have experience identifying performance bottlenecks and suggesting optimizations. Your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams ensures that you can effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are committed to continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance system performance and reliability.
Experience with container technology and CI/CD systems is a plus, as is a degree in Computer Science or a related field. You thrive in environments where you can apply your technical skills to solve real-world problems and contribute to the success of the organization.
In this role, you will be part of the operations team for a payments platform, responsible for infrastructure design and scalability. You will actively monitor the production health of the platform, ensuring accurate invoicing, disbursements, receipts, and payments. Your responsibilities will include managing operational tickets and conducting retrospectives to improve processes and controls.
You will collaborate with various teams to engineer business solutions that meet the growing needs of Apple’s Finance, Apple Pay, iTunes, Sales, Retail, and IT Service organizations. Your work will involve processing high-volume micro-transactions and ensuring that the systems are robust and capable of handling the demands of a fast-paced environment.
You will also be involved in defining and managing necessary controls to maintain system integrity and performance. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in Site Reliability Engineering, allowing you to implement innovative solutions that enhance the overall efficiency of the platform.
