Who you are

You have a strong engineering background with experience in writing production-quality code in Python, Swift, or other programming languages. Your expertise includes working with generative models, natural language processing, and large language models (LLMs). You are familiar with failure analysis, quality engineering, and robustness analysis for AI/ML-based features. You thrive in environments that require sensitivity and discretion, especially when handling highly-sensitive content.

You have a passion for machine learning and are eager to tackle innovative problems, particularly in the realm of generative AI. Your experience includes developing models, tools, metrics, and datasets for assessing and evaluating the safety of generative models throughout their deployment lifecycle. You understand the importance of safety, robustness, and uncertainty in AI models and are committed to addressing these challenges.

Desirable

Experience with crowd-based environments and human annotation processes is a plus. You are comfortable working with offensive and controversial content, understanding the implications of such exposure in your work. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impactful projects.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be part of the Apple HCMI group, working on ambitious projects that will shape the future of Apple's products and the broader world. You will develop methods, models, and tools to interpret and explain failures in language and diffusion models. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining human annotation and red teaming pipelines to assess the quality and risk of various Apple products.

You will prototype, implement, and evaluate new machine learning models and algorithms specifically for red teaming large language models (LLMs). Your work will directly contribute to the development of generative AI applications that enhance user experiences across Apple's product ecosystem. You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to tackle innovative problems and ensure the safety and robustness of the models you develop.
