Who you are

You have a Master's or higher degree in a relevant field such as computational linguistics or a similar area with computational analysis. With over 2 years of experience in computational linguistics or language data processing, you have a strong foundation in the field. Your expertise includes dataset construction, linguistic annotation, and dialog/semantic schemas, which are critical for the role. You are skilled in analyzing and extracting language-related insights from large datasets, and you have experience building tools or prototypes for data analysis using Python or another scripting language. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, and data scientists to ensure alignment of AI systems with human policies and preferences.

Desirable

Experience with automatic processing of large datasets and familiarity with modeling tools to bootstrap or test new functionalities would be advantageous. You are adept at handling competing requests from various data customers, showcasing your ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

What you'll do

As a Language Engineer at Amazon, you will design data collection and creation tasks in response to scientific needs. This involves authoring instructions, defining and implementing quality targets and mechanisms, and providing day-to-day coordination of data collection efforts, including planning, scheduling, and reporting. You will build tools or tool prototypes for data analysis or data authoring, utilizing your programming skills in Python or other scripting languages.
