SpaceX is seeking an Operations Engineer for Booster Production to support functional checkouts of Starship/Superheavy vehicles. You'll work with fluid systems and electrical/sensor checkouts. This role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience.
You have a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and at least 2 years of project or professional experience with fluid systems. You thrive in environments where you can directly support the testing and validation of complex systems, and you have a strong understanding of vehicle construction and avionics/propulsion architecture. Your experience includes creating, reading, and interpreting electrical and fluid schematics, which allows you to troubleshoot hardware issues effectively. You are comfortable interfacing with both engineering teams and technicians in the field, ensuring that all systems are built per design intent.
An advanced degree in mechanical engineering is preferred, as is experience working in fast-paced environments. Systems engineering experience is a plus, as it enhances your ability to understand and improve testing efficiency and safety.
In this role, you will help SpaceX achieve its long-term goal of colonizing Mars by directly supporting functional checkouts of Starship/Superheavy vehicles. You will establish test criteria and pass/fail requirements for integrated vehicle checkouts, leading hazardous testing operations to validate vehicle builds. Your responsibilities will include performing pressurized checkouts and electrical/sensor checkouts via the control console. You will also develop procedures and processes for ‘first-article’ validation, ensuring that all systems meet the required specifications. As you troubleshoot hardware issues in real-time, you will drive feedback to owners to correct and eliminate repeat issues, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of vehicle testing.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that aim to make human life on Mars a reality. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in our mission to explore the stars and make history.
