Network Implementation Engineer, Optical

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, or possess equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience under your belt, you are well-versed in networking protocols and troubleshooting. Your expertise extends to optical transmission systems, such as DWDM, as well as Local Area Network and Wireless Protocols, including TCP/Internet Protocol. You have a knack for supporting and directing field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, and vendors in a Telecom working environment. Additionally, you have experience in developing and implementing automation solutions for network deployment, and you are familiar with process improvement methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma. Your background in telecommunications gives you a solid understanding of network infrastructure, optical transport systems, and layer 2/3 devices like switches and routers.

What you'll do

As a Network Implementation Engineer at Google, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate closely with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors. Your role is pivotal in facilitating faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business and our customers. You will be responsible for building the world’s most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support all of our operations. You will work with cross-functional teams to improve network deployment cycle time and operational costs through process improvements. You will own an area of responsibility, addressing issues, anticipating needs, and escalating as necessary while identifying automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and prevent recurring failure modes. Maintaining accurate network data will be crucial to drive operational excellence.
