SpaceX is hiring a Toolmaker for their Starship project at Starbase, TX. You'll work on building and improving mechanical systems, applying skills in welding and metrology. This role is ideal for those with a high school diploma and a passion for hands-on work in aerospace.
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and possess professional experience with metrology, including performing inspections and using measurement tools. You are comfortable interpreting blueprints at all assembly levels and applying your welding knowledge to the fabrication process. Your creative problem-solving skills enable you to apply innovative solutions using field machining equipment. You understand the importance of safety and quality standards in operations and are committed to maintaining an orderly work environment that maximizes utility for your team. You have in-depth knowledge of rigging large, heavy, and imbalanced components using various lifting devices, ensuring all components are maintained in optimal condition during assembly and disassembly.
As a Toolmaker at SpaceX, you will be part of a dedicated team focused on building and improving mechanical systems at rocket launch facilities. Your responsibilities will include interpreting blueprints and applying welding techniques to fabricate components. You will creatively solve unpredictable field problems through spur-of-the-moment design and machining. You will also translate metrology data from inspection reports to ensure final machined surfaces meet quality standards. Your role will require you to maintain a safe working environment while contributing directly to the success of future launches. You will fabricate support equipment, ranging from shelves to temporary machine structures, and perform maintenance weld repairs as needed. Your expertise in rigging will be crucial as you handle large components, ensuring they are safely moved and assembled.
