Overview

Dropbox is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to evolve the Dropbox Desktop application. You'll build user-facing features and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position requires 8+ years of experience in full-stack development.

Who you are

You have 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, demonstrating a strong ability to deliver impactful product capabilities and technical systems. Your background includes a BS degree or higher, equipping you with the foundational knowledge necessary for this role. You are adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, balancing technical requirements with business goals, and mentoring junior engineers to foster their growth. You thrive in environments where you can lead problem-solving initiatives and drive tradeoffs to achieve optimal solutions. Your experience includes participating in on-call rotations, ensuring service reliability, and being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. You have a deep understanding of desktop-specific challenges and performance optimization, particularly in building and maintaining desktop applications using Electron or similar frameworks.

Desirable

Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is preferred, as well as familiarity with desktop application development challenges. You are comfortable with mentoring and contributing to team development, enhancing the overall capability of your team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer on the Desktop Experience team, you will play a crucial role in evolving the Dropbox Desktop application. You will be responsible for building user-facing features end-to-end, ensuring that they meet both user needs and business objectives. Your collaboration with Product and Design partners will be essential in shaping the future of how users experience Dropbox on desktop. You will deliver ongoing business impact through ownership of product capabilities, driving initiatives that enhance user engagement and satisfaction. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, helping them develop their skills and contribute effectively to the team. You will lead problem-solving initiatives, making tradeoffs to achieve optimal solutions while maintaining a focus on service reliability. Participation in on-call rotations will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that the services you help build remain reliable and performant.
