Staff Backend Engineer

Who you are

You have 10 years or equivalent quality experience, preferably in startup environments, and a strong background in backend engineering. Your expertise lies in large-scale distributed systems serving developers and end users, and you have a knack for innovative problem-solving — turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear solutions. You are comfortable with new technology and think outside the box to develop and implement effective solutions. You possess the ability to influence without authority, collaborating with technical and cross-functional teams who do not report directly to you. Your in-depth experience with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS makes you a valuable asset to any engineering team.

Desirable

Experience in mentoring and providing technical leadership to other engineers is a plus. You thrive in environments where you can contribute to frameworks that lead to significant user experience improvements. What you'll do

In this role, you will work closely with the Expense Product and Sales team to deliver new features that align with the needs of the business. You will provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers on the team, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the team is continuously improving. Your contributions will drive frameworks that lead to significant user experience improvements, and you will assist the team in understanding and adopting new technologies. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable backend solutions that enhance the overall functionality of Navan's expense management system. Your role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the technical solutions align with business goals and user needs.
