Software Engineer

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with at least 1 year of technical engineering experience. You are passionate about building scalable, secure, and maintainable backend services, and you have a strong track record in designing reliable systems and writing clean code. You understand the importance of driving engineering excellence across the development lifecycle and are eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

You possess experience in designing and implementing scalable backend services and automation workflows. Your focus on secure coding, robust testing, and maintainable design ensures that the features you develop are reliable and transparent to customers. You are comfortable participating in on-call rotations and live site investigations, applying structured debugging and telemetry analysis to improve service health.

You are proactive in contributing to architecture discussions, design documents, and managing cross-team dependencies. You ensure compliance with security, privacy, and accessibility standards throughout the development and deployment process. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with engineering, product, and incident management teams to enhance operational readiness.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure, is a plus. Familiarity with REST APIs and backend development best practices will help you excel in this role. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer at Microsoft, you will be part of the Unified Data Ingestion team, responsible for the distribution and processing of logs produced by Identity services. You will design and implement scalable backend services that process trillions of logs per day, focusing on ingestion latency, security, and cost optimization. Your role will involve owning end-to-end feature development, ensuring that the services you build are reliable and maintainable.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and incident management teams to improve service health and operational readiness. This includes participating in on-call rotations and live site investigations, where you will apply structured debugging and telemetry analysis to resolve issues. You will also contribute to architecture discussions and design documents, ensuring that your team's work aligns with broader organizational goals.
