SpaceX is hiring a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to provide technical expertise and implement safety programs at the Starship rocket development site. You'll work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role requires strong skills in environmental and occupational safety.
You have a strong background in environmental and occupational safety, with at least 5 years of experience in the field. Your hands-on approach allows you to thrive in fast-paced environments, and you excel at collaborating with diverse teams to achieve safety goals. You are well-versed in regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH, and you understand the importance of compliance in high-stakes operations.
You possess excellent analytical skills, enabling you to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analyses. Your ability to develop and implement effective safety programs is complemented by your strong communication skills, which help you convey complex safety concepts to various stakeholders. You are proactive in identifying potential hazards and implementing job hazard assessments to mitigate risks.
Experience in the aerospace or manufacturing industries is a plus, as is familiarity with safety management systems. You are comfortable using safety management software and tools to track compliance and incidents. A certification in safety management or a related field would further enhance your qualifications.
In this role, you will work closely with test engineers and technician teams to perform detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe execution of operations at the Starship rocket development and test site. You will lead or assist in all aspects of incident investigations, including initial follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action development and closure.
You will collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH. You will also implement and develop safety and health programs, including OSHA general industry and construction standards, and HAZCOM.
Your role will involve training and educating team members on safety protocols and best practices, fostering a culture of safety within the organization. You will be responsible for monitoring compliance and conducting regular audits to ensure adherence to safety standards. Additionally, you will participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety programs.
