Job Description

The Identity Candidates and Comparison (IAC&C) team builds and operates systems and services that is responsible for establishing product identity and attributes which lights up product detail page, supply chain and fulfillment use cases across all marketplaces. It has two main engineering focus areas: 1) the Identity Comparison Engine, which compares two representations of an item identity to determine if they represent the same thing in just a few milliseconds; 2) the Identity Subsetting, which takes identity representation from incoming contributions and identifies potential product candidates that match the incoming contribution; and the Product-External Identifiers mappings, which maintain and provide mapping between products in the catalog and external Identifiers like GTIN(s).

The IAC&C team supports key programs like, Identity Mutation Prevention, Identity Seller friction reduction, Matching Platform Evolution, and Identity Consistency between 1P vendors and 3P sellers. The portfolio of services and products we own directly impacts both seller and buyer experiences. Being the world’s largest product catalog with billions of products, and billions of transactions per day the scale of our services support is massive.

The team offers a unique blend of hard computer science problems (scalable distributed systems and high performance algorithms) and an opportunity to help the businesses model their vision on the platform. You will work alongside visionaries who have defined some of the foundational systems at Amazon.

Successful candidates are passionate about translating high-level, ambiguous business goals to software platforms that enable multiple businesses. You are comfortable taking initiative and working alongside and leading top-notch software developers.

Key job responsibilities
The SDE2 is responsible for highly ambiguous and challenging problems at a global scale. You will be responsible for design, development and end to end delivery of software applications. You will influence technical direction, drive operational excellence best practices and maintain quality on team deliverables. You will also have the opportunity to learn from high-performing software engineering teams and mentor junior members.

We continuously invest in mechanisms and software systems that help us sustainably meet the business demand.- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
