Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems — your hands-on experience allows you to troubleshoot complex equipment effectively. You understand the importance of maintaining mission-critical technology infrastructure and are committed to ensuring seamless operations that power global digital experiences. You thrive in environments where you can apply your technical skills to solve real-world problems, and you are eager to contribute to a team that values reliability and efficiency.

Your expertise includes working with stand-by diesel generators, three-phase electrical systems, and various cooling systems — you are familiar with switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, and centrifugal chillers. You have a keen eye for detail and are adept at identifying issues before they escalate, ensuring that systems remain operational and efficient. You are also comfortable collaborating with diverse teams, including software, hardware, and network engineers, to support the overall mission of maintaining high uptime for AWS data centers.

Desirable

Experience with AWS infrastructure services is a plus, as it will enhance your ability to support the design, planning, delivery, and operation of global infrastructure. Familiarity with data center operations and a proactive approach to problem-solving will set you apart in this role.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers — your responsibilities will include operating and troubleshooting mission-critical facilities. You will ensure that all electrical and mechanical systems are functioning optimally, contributing to our goal of achieving an extraordinary 99.999% uptime. Your day-to-day tasks will involve hands-on work with equipment such as diesel generators, cooling towers, and air handlers, where you will apply your technical skills to diagnose and resolve issues.

You will collaborate closely with other technicians and engineers to implement preventive maintenance strategies and respond to any operational challenges that arise. Your role will require you to be proactive in identifying potential problems and implementing solutions that enhance system reliability. You will also participate in training sessions and team meetings, sharing your insights and learning from others to continuously improve your skills and knowledge.

What we offer

At Amazon, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) matching program. You will have access to paid time off and parental leave, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. We believe in supporting our employees' well-being, which is why we offer mental health support and flexible spending accounts. Join us and be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence in technology infrastructure.
