Overview

Google is seeking a Program Manager for Sustainable Data Center Construction to lead complex projects in engineering and construction. You'll work with technical teams and manage vendor relationships, requiring expertise in electrical and mechanical systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 2 years of experience in program or project management. Your background includes working with technical teams in the engineering and construction of data centers or facilities. You possess knowledge in electrical, mechanical, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, or networking/fiber systems. With 5 years of experience managing equipment and environments, you are familiar with electrical switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and associated systems. You have a strong understanding of design build processes and the associated documentation and agreements. Your experience includes gathering requirements, organizing resources, prioritizing tasks, scheduling, and achieving objectives within set goals. You are adept at managing vendor relationships and have a solid grasp of large-scale facility electrical and mechanical systems. You understand the startup and commissioning processes, ensuring that projects meet all necessary standards.

What you'll do

As a Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You will coordinate with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span multiple offices, time zones, and hemispheres, requiring you to resolve critical issues while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs. You will engage with customers and internal organizations to ensure project success. Your role will involve analyzing and evaluating business situations to address difficult construction issues, ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned with organizational goals. You will be responsible for communicating project information and updates to leadership appropriately, ensuring transparency and clarity throughout the project lifecycle.
