You have extensive experience in tax compliance and planning, particularly within North America, and are well-versed in federal, state, and local tax regulations. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy taking ownership of complex tax processes. Your hands-on approach allows you to effectively manage indirect tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings across various jurisdictions. You are skilled in preparing and reviewing income tax returns and have a strong understanding of tax credits and incentives, particularly in relation to R&D claims. You are comfortable liaising with external advisors and coordinating with legal teams to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies.
Experience with tax compliance software and tools is a plus, as is familiarity with the travel industry. You have a proactive mindset and are always looking for ways to improve tax processes and efficiencies. Your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering and product, will be key to identifying qualifying activities for tax incentives. You are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills, allowing you to navigate complex tax issues effectively.
In this role, you will take ownership of North American tax compliance, focusing on both indirect and income tax. You will ensure timely and accurate compliance of all indirect tax filings, including sales tax and hotel/lodging taxes. You will lead registrations and co-manage tax policy decisions with the legal team, owning the end-to-end process of filings, payments, and reconciliations. Additionally, you will prepare and review federal and state income tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions for both the U.S. and Canada. You will partner with engineering and product teams to identify qualifying activities for tax credits, gathering necessary substantiation and preparing defensible claims.
You will also coordinate with external advisors, ensuring that the company is compliant with all tax regulations while optimizing tax strategies. As the Senior Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the tax function at Hopper, contributing to the company's growth and success in the travel marketplace. You will be expected to stay updated on tax law changes and assess their impact on the company's operations. Your insights will help guide strategic decisions and ensure that Hopper remains compliant as it expands its offerings.
