You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on building scalable systems. Your background includes working with search technologies and you understand the complexities involved in indexing and retrieval processes. You are proficient in Java and have experience with machine learning algorithms, which you have applied to improve search relevance and quality.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you can navigate challenges that arise in high-demand systems. Experience with Elasticsearch or similar search engines is a plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP will enhance your ability to contribute to our scalable architecture. You are also open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can improve our search platform.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Search Platform team, you will lead the development of a robust search infrastructure that supports millions of merchants and billions of items. You will design and implement features that enhance search indexing, retrieval, and ranking, ensuring that users can easily find relevant products.
You will collaborate with machine learning engineers to experiment with new algorithms that improve search quality. Your role will involve analyzing performance metrics and making data-driven decisions to optimize the search experience. You will also mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of learning within the team.
Your contributions will directly impact the user experience across various platforms, including iOS, Android, and Web. You will work closely with product teams to enable rapid experimentation and iteration on new features, ensuring that our search capabilities evolve with user needs.
