SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for their Supply Chain team to support the Falcon and Dragon programs. You'll leverage your expertise in manufacturing and quality tools to solve challenges at suppliers. This role requires practical experience in process engineering and a strong understanding of machining and assembly processes.
You have a comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and quality tools, with a strong motivation to enable suppliers to succeed. Your background includes practical experience in process engineering and new product development, guiding projects from initial design through to stabilized production. You possess a broad understanding of the machining and assembly of metallic components, and you are eager to tackle new challenges in unfamiliar areas to support SpaceX's mission to Mars.
You are a proven leader with the ability to act as the technical point of contact for assigned parts, adept at solving emergent challenges at suppliers. Your analytical skills allow you to review issues on assigned parts and solve them to the root cause, implementing necessary changes at the supplier level. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes or similar industries is a plus. Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies and quality assurance methodologies will enhance your candidacy. You are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and have excellent communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
In this role, you will support the Dragon and Falcon programs by addressing high-impact manufacturing and quality challenges. You will act as the technical point of contact for assigned parts, solving emergent challenges at suppliers and mitigating risks to the manifest. Your responsibilities will include reviewing issues on assigned parts, identifying root causes, and implementing changes to improve manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure they meet SpaceX's demanding quality standards while adapting to rapidly evolving designs and ambitious production volumes. Your role will require you to engage in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging your expertise to enhance supplier performance and product quality.
You will also be involved in new product development, guiding projects from concept through to production. This includes working with engineering teams to ensure that manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency and quality. You will be expected to document processes and provide training to suppliers as needed, fostering a culture of quality and excellence.
