Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and refine manufacturing processes for the Dragon 2 capsule. You'll work closely with design engineers and technicians to solve production challenges. This role requires expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in manufacturing engineering with experience in composite structures — your knowledge allows you to develop innovative solutions that meet safety, quality, and efficiency standards. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with design engineers and technicians to evaluate designs for manufacturability and implementation. Your problem-solving skills enable you to resolve product non-conformances effectively, ensuring that production processes run smoothly.

You are detail-oriented and understand the complexities of large-scale production challenges — your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly helps bridge the gap between development and production teams. You are passionate about space technology and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to projects that extend humanity's reach beyond Earth.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes or similar industries is a plus — familiarity with industry standards and regulations will enhance your contributions. A background in project management or process improvement methodologies can also be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the build and inspection process for composite structures across the Dragon 2 capsule. You will develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet all design and business requirements, including safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery. Collaborating with other engineers and subject matter experts, you will tackle large-scale production challenges and ensure that the manufacturing processes align with the evolving needs of the production environment.

You will work closely with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability, providing critical input that influences the development of new and existing hardware. Your role will involve leading manufacturing and integration efforts on current and next-generation vehicles, ensuring that all processes are optimized for performance and reliability.

In addition to your engineering responsibilities, you will play a key role in resolving product non-conformances and collaborating with the quality team to uphold the highest standards in production. Your contributions will directly impact the success of SpaceX's mission to enable human life on Mars, making your work both challenging and rewarding.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space technology. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will be valued. Join us in our mission to make space exploration a reality for future generations.
