This role requires 5+ years of experience and offers the opportunity to work in either San Francisco or New York.
You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 5 years of experience in program management. Your background includes 5 years of experience in resource planning, specifically with production cost modeling software applications such as PLEXOS and PROMOD. You are proficient in Python and have a strong understanding of electricity markets across multiple regions globally. Your experience includes identifying potential risks in resource planning and developing effective mitigation strategies to ensure a reliable and cost-effective energy supply.
You possess excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, enabling you to coordinate effectively with both energy experts and non-experts. You are comfortable leading projects that require inputs from multiple teams, ensuring that all aspects are considered and addressed. You understand that a problem isn’t truly solved until it’s resolved for all stakeholders involved. Your communication skills allow you to present complex analyses and recommendations clearly to executives while also engaging in technical discussions with engineers.
A PhD in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, or related disciplines would be a significant advantage. You have experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to energy markets, load forecasting, generation capacity, and transmission constraints, which informs energy supply planning decisions.
As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You will work closely with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners across the company. Your role will involve contributing to the selection and development of appropriate modeling assumptions used to run medium and long-term production cost models. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the projects align with Google's mission to create opportunities for everyone.
