Overview

Google is seeking a Technical Operations Manager to oversee third-party data centers in Santiago, Chile. You'll manage on-site incidents, ensure operational efficiency, and work with various teams to implement improvements. This role requires extensive experience in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a minimum of 7 years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation within an industrial or commercial environment, and at least 3 years in a data center or facilities setting. Your educational background includes an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. You are adept at working non-standard hours and managing shifts effectively. Your communication skills allow you to engage with all levels of the organization, including executives, and you have a strong ability to forecast resource requirements based on data-driven insights.

Desirable

A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or Reliability Engineering is preferred. You have experience with reliability-centered maintenance and engineering, which enhances your ability to manage complex systems effectively.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for managing on-site incidents and emergencies, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel. You will regularly inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems, including heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution and control systems. Your role will involve collaborating with teams such as GSO, DCOps, NetOps, and Security, as well as external vendors, to identify and implement operational improvements. You will also be tasked with conveying technical and operational information clearly to ensure effective changes within the operational environment.
