Google is seeking a Silicon Validation Engineer to validate custom silicon solutions for their cloud infrastructure. You'll work with C, C++, and Python to ensure high-quality performance and functionality. This role requires 3+ years of experience in silicon validation and networking protocols.
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and you have at least 3 years of experience with functional tests for silicon validation — writing in C or C++ is second nature to you. Your background includes experience in silicon bring-up, functional validation, and characterizing and qualifying silicon. You are knowledgeable about packet processing, data paths, packet buffering, and networking protocols offload engines. You also have experience with hardware prototyping, including hardware/software integration, and are familiar with pre-silicon use of emulation and software-based test development.
Your understanding of Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) interfaces, including PCIe internal switches and components, is strong — you can establish Root Port (RP) and Endpoint (EP) links with ease. You possess knowledge of SoC architecture, including boot flows and embedded processors/firmware, which allows you to contribute effectively to cross-functional teams. You are excited about pushing boundaries and developing custom silicon solutions that power innovative products.
Experience with scripting and programming languages, particularly Python, is a plus as you will design, implement, and maintain validation tests to verify SmartNIC functionality and performance. Your ability to collaborate with Firmware, Software, Design, Design Verification, and Architecture teams will be crucial in identifying and resolving issues before they impact customers.
As a Silicon Validation Engineer at Google Cloud, you will play a pivotal role in the validation of Google's custom silicon solutions that power our cloud infrastructure. Your expertise in post-silicon validation will be essential in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for providing quality functional coverage for Google designs, which involves developing and executing functional tests that validate silicon performance.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues, ensuring that the silicon solutions are robust and reliable. Your role will involve writing tests in C and C++, as well as using Python for automation purposes. You will also engage in characterizing silicon and validating its functionality, contributing to the overall success of the product development lifecycle.
At Google, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your curiosity and willingness to learn are just as important as your technical skills. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that impacts millions of users worldwide, shaping the future of hardware experiences.
We provide a collaborative environment where your contributions will be valued, and you will have the chance to grow your skills and advance your career. Join us in our mission to deliver unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration in our silicon solutions.
