You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining complex systems. Your expertise in Python and Django allows you to contribute effectively to localization projects, ensuring that Mozilla's products are accessible to users worldwide. You understand the importance of internationalization and localization in software development, and you are familiar with standards such as Unicode MessageFormat. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy engaging with a community of volunteer localizers, helping to empower them in their contributions. You are passionate about open-source software and believe in the mission of making the internet better for people.
Experience with localization tools and technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with translation management systems. You may have worked on projects that required you to engage with diverse communities, understanding their needs and incorporating feedback into your work. A background in web development and an understanding of frontend technologies can also enhance your contributions to the team.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Localization Team, you will play a crucial role in managing the infrastructure that powers localization across all Mozilla products. You will contribute to the development of Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System, and work on open-source libraries like moz-l10n. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing features that improve the localization process, ensuring that our products are user-friendly and accessible in multiple languages. You will collaborate with other engineers and community members to enhance the internationalization features of Firefox and other Mozilla products, making sure that they meet the needs of a global audience.
You will also engage in architectural discussions, helping to shape the future of our localization technologies. Mozilla offers a competitive salary range of €68,000—€91,000 EUR for this remote position in Germany.
