Google is seeking a Global Commodity Manager for their Electronic Design Automation team to drive sourcing and procurement strategies. You'll leverage your expertise in project management and technical leadership to optimize manufacturing processes. This role requires 8+ years of relevant experience.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With 8 years of experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, you have a proven track record of driving product launches and optimizing assembly processes within manufacturing operations. Your 7 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or vendor management, particularly in technology, EDA, or engineering services, sets you apart. You possess strong technical leadership skills and excel in project management, ensuring effective communication with executives and stakeholders.
Your familiarity with chip design and the semiconductor industry is a significant asset. You understand the complexities of creating commercial and legal frameworks that support chip design teams, and you are adept at managing supplier performance through Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs). You are proactive and commercially astute, ready to bridge the gap between semiconductor engineering teams and external EDA vendors and design service partners.
A Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field would be a plus. Experience in setting up manufacturing assembly processes and driving product launches is highly desirable. Familiarity with legal structures specific to the semiconductor industry, including IP indemnity and warranty clauses, will enhance your effectiveness in this role.
As a Global Commodity Manager, you will play a crucial role in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Design Services team at Google. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the sourcing and procurement of EDA tools and services, ensuring that our semiconductor engineering teams have the resources they need to innovate and deliver high-quality products. You will not just be buying software; you will be creating the commercial and legal frameworks that allow our chip design teams to thrive.
You will collaborate closely with semiconductor engineering teams to understand their needs and translate them into actionable procurement strategies. Your role will involve negotiating contracts and agreements, including End User License Agreements (EULA) and Statements of Work (SOW), to ensure that our vendors meet technical support SLAs and delivery milestones. You will also be responsible for managing supplier performance, conducting regular reviews, and ensuring that vendors align with our strategic goals.
In this position, you will leverage your technical leadership skills to guide cross-functional teams in optimizing manufacturing assembly processes. You will drive product launches and ensure that assembly processes are efficient and effective. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be essential as you navigate the intersection of engineering and procurement.
At Google, you will be part of a team that pushes boundaries and develops custom silicon solutions that power the future of our direct-to-consumer products. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your proactive approach and willingness to learn are what we value most.
Join us in this exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of technology. You will work in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and creativity, surrounded by talented professionals who are passionate about what they do. Together, we will create products loved by millions worldwide.
