Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development using Java, C++, Kotlin, or equivalent programming languages. Your strong foundation in data structures and algorithms complements your 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products. With 3 years of experience in software design and architecture, you are well-versed in the principles of building robust systems. Additionally, you have at least 1 year of experience in Android application or operating systems development, which has equipped you with the necessary skills to contribute effectively to this role.

You possess a Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, which enhances your technical expertise. Your experience in a technical leadership role for 3 years demonstrates your ability to lead project teams and set technical direction. You thrive in cross-functional environments, having worked on projects that involve collaboration across different business units. Your passion for Android development is evident, as you have spent 3 years focusing on Android applications or operating systems.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for developing highly visible features that directly impact user experience on Android devices. You will engineer features at the heart of Android UI, taking ownership of improving the underlying Android Framework components that power experiences like widgets and shortcuts. This involves working within framework internals, refining APIs for robustness and performance, and addressing the technical needs of developers across the ecosystem who rely on these foundations.

You will collaborate closely with product, design, and research teams, engaging technically with numerous partner teams and developer relations to define the developer experience for applications building widgets and shortcuts. Your role will also include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching engineers, and facilitating alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. You will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring that the development process is efficient and effective.

Your responsibilities will extend to designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions.
