Hiya is looking for an experienced, business-minded lawyer in London to oversee major corporate legal functions across the company. You will report directly to our General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) (located in Seattle) and collaborate closely with senior executives to drive strategic business and legal initiatives. You will negotiate customer and vendor agreements, implement and use AI to scale legal functions as Hiya grows, assist with global privacy compliance, manage external counsel for specialty legal advice and, with our General Counsel, help develop Hiya’s overall legal strategy. As the first attorney in our London office, this is a leadership role requiring strategic thinking and the ability to influence key business decisions. We are an entrepreneurial and fast-moving technology company: Prior legal experience with tech, either in a firm or in-house, is a plus!
What You’ll Do
Manage corporate legal activities from top to bottom, including operator and OEM partnerships, vendor relationships, and both standard and complex IP and commercial agreements.
Act as a trusted legal advisor to senior leadership, providing clear and actionable advice on corporate initiatives, compliance, and strategy.
Improve efficiency of Hiya’s legal function by developing and implementing playbooks, AI contract review and intake mechanisms.
Assist CPO with privacy and data protection matters, ensuring that Hiya’s privacy policies and practices meet global standards and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and others.
Manage Hiya’s corporate governance of non-US subsidiaries, including compliance with local and international laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Work efficiently with outside counsel to advise on complex legal issues, including cross-border regulatory issues, litigation risks, and the structuring of new business models.
Monitor trends in privacy regulations and technology law, and advise the company on potential risks and opportunities.
