Sr SDE - Backend (Node.js)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems at scale. You've owned services from design through deployment and have a wealth of experience debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript allows you to create high-performance applications that meet the demands of a global user base. You understand the intricacies of distributed systems and are adept at designing solutions that are both scalable and secure. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the systems you build are reliable and efficient. Mentoring junior engineers is something you enjoy, as you believe in fostering a culture of learning and growth within your team. You are passionate about technology and stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in backend development.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture would be a plus, as would familiarity with DevOps practices and tools. If you have worked in the payments industry or have a strong understanding of financial systems, that would be advantageous.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the technical design of backend systems that power Nium’s Consumer and SME products. You will collaborate closely with Product, QA, SRE, and DevOps teams to ensure that the systems you design are not only functional but also scalable and secure. Your responsibilities will include designing APIs, optimizing database interactions, and implementing best practices for code quality and testing. You will also be involved in mentoring other engineers, helping them to grow their skills and advance their careers. As part of a high-impact team, you will have the opportunity to influence the technical direction of the projects you work on and contribute to the overall success of the company. You will be expected to participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure that the team adheres to best practices in software development.
