Amazon is hiring a Building Technician to oversee the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within their data centers in Airdrie, Alberta. This role requires knowledge of AWS and Linux systems to ensure optimal uptime and operational efficiency.
You are a detail-oriented individual with a strong technical background, particularly in electrical and mechanical systems. You have experience working in data centers or similar environments, ensuring that critical systems maintain high availability. Your problem-solving skills enable you to respond effectively to operational issues, and you are committed to driving innovation while reducing costs. You understand the importance of safety and compliance, and you are prepared to obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.
Experience with building automation systems and familiarity with UPS systems, generators, and other critical infrastructure components will be beneficial. You are proactive in identifying potential issues before they escalate, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can make a tangible impact.
As a Building Technician at Amazon, you will be responsible for the maintenance and oversight of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. You will serve as a technical resource, ensuring that all systems operate at optimal levels to support mission-critical servers. Your role will involve regular inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment such as diesel generators, switchboards, and building automation systems. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to implement best practices and drive operational improvements. Additionally, you will be on the front line responding to any electrical or mechanical issues that may affect Amazon's availability, ensuring that all equipment maintains better than 99.999% uptime.
