Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve successfully managed services from design through deployment and have a wealth of experience debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a strong understanding of REST APIs, allowing you to create efficient and effective backend solutions. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets user needs. You are comfortable with open-source projects and understand the importance of community-driven development. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies as the landscape evolves.

Desirable

Experience with Grafana or similar observability tools is a plus, as is familiarity with alerting systems. You may also have experience in cloud environments, which would enhance your ability to contribute to Grafana Cloud solutions. A background in working with large-scale systems and a passion for open-source software will set you apart.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Alerting squad, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the Grafana open-source project. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain the backend systems that manage user alerts, ensuring they are robust and scalable. You will collaborate closely with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to implement features that improve alert management. Your work will involve designing APIs that are efficient and easy to use, as well as optimizing existing systems for performance and reliability. You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and helping to maintain high coding standards within the team. Additionally, you will be involved in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise in production, ensuring that users have a seamless experience with Grafana's alerting capabilities. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and helping them grow in their careers.
