Who you are

You are currently pursuing a Master’s degree in User Research, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, Digital Media Design, or a related field. You have a strong interest in understanding current and potential users by identifying their motivations, needs, expectations, and goals. You possess the ability to plan and perform end-to-end research with the support and oversight of an experienced UX researcher or lead. You are familiar with usability heuristics and best practices in UX design and have prototyping skills or the ability to work with design or engineering teams to create prototypes for user research needs.

Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively with designers and stakeholders to understand research needs and define research questions. You are comfortable recruiting participants for research studies and conducting design research studies using a wide array of UX research methods, including user interviews, field studies, surveys, competitive analyses, card sorting, and live A/B testing.

What you'll do

As a UX Research Intern at MongoDB, you will be responsible for conducting product research that informs design decisions and enhances customer experiences. You will collaborate closely with designers and stakeholders to understand their research needs and define relevant research questions. Your role will involve selecting appropriate methods of data collection and defining timelines for research projects. You will recruit participants for research studies and conduct various design research studies, collecting and analyzing data through methods such as user interviews and surveys.

You will translate research findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences, including product designers, product managers, and engineers. Presenting your findings to these stakeholders will be a key part of your role, ensuring that insights are effectively communicated and utilized in the design process. You will have the opportunity to work on real projects that impact the user experience of MongoDB products, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field of UX research.
