SpaceX is hiring a Senior GNC Engineer for the Dragon team to perform mission design and implement GNC algorithms for crewed and cargo spacecraft operations. This role requires expertise in mission control operations and complex problem-solving skills.
You have a strong background in guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems, with experience in mission design and algorithm implementation for spacecraft operations. You thrive in high-pressure environments and enjoy tackling complex challenges that contribute to the advancement of human spaceflight. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that all mission requirements are met effectively.
You possess a deep understanding of orbital maneuvers, docking procedures, and reentry profiles, which allows you to contribute significantly to the success of Dragon missions. Your experience includes working closely with partners like NASA and commercial entities, capturing requirements and translating them into actionable designs. You are passionate about space exploration and are eager to play a pivotal role in enabling human life on Mars.
Experience with real-time operations from mission control is a plus, as is familiarity with the Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) and Commercial Crew Program (CCP). A background in developing GNC systems for precise deorbit trajectories and end-of-life maneuvering will set you apart. You are adaptable and can thrive in a fast-paced environment, making you an ideal candidate for this high-impact role.
As a Senior GNC Engineer on the Dragon team, you will be responsible for the full cycle of Dragon missions, from initial design through to execution. You will capture requirements from NASA and commercial partners, ensuring that all mission objectives are met. Your role will involve designing and implementing new GNC algorithms tailored to both crewed and cargo spacecraft operations, setting the industry standard for reliability in human spaceflight.
You will conduct simulations and analyses of orbital maneuvers, docking, and reentry profiles, providing critical insights that inform mission planning and execution. Your expertise will be essential during launch, rendezvous, and docking with the ISS, as well as during deorbit and splashdown recovery operations. You will also support abort system integration for every Dragon mission, ensuring that safety and reliability are prioritized.
Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with engineers from various disciplines to drive the success of each mission. You will participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of GNC systems, leveraging your knowledge to enhance performance and reliability. Your contributions will directly impact the success of missions that support both commercial and governmental objectives in space exploration.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space exploration. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions are valued and recognized, and where you can make a meaningful impact on the future of humanity in space. Join us in our mission to enable life on multiple planets and be part of a team that is shaping the future of space travel.
