Senior Backend Engineer

Who you are

You have over 5 years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have a knack for debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You understand the importance of creating high-quality code with a well-structured and maintainable design, ensuring that your codebase is tested and secure. You are proactive in profiling and benchmarking your codebase to identify bottlenecks, and you embrace a you-build-it-you-run-it mentality, ensuring operational excellence through monitoring, logging, and end-to-end testing. You enjoy providing guidance to other developers and acting as a mentor for junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure would be a plus, as well as familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools. A background in working with cross-functional teams will help you thrive in our dynamic environment.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at NICE, you will be welcomed into our Engineering department, which is divided into cross-functional, verticalized development teams focused on delivering continuous improvements and developing new products. You will develop and deliver software solutions that meet customer needs quickly and efficiently, applying the 80/20 rule to prioritize your work effectively. Your role will involve enhancing our products to deliver outstanding performance and value to our customers, ensuring that you create high-quality code that is maintainable and secure. You will be responsible for profiling and benchmarking our codebase to identify bottlenecks, ensuring that our systems run smoothly and efficiently. You will also ensure operational excellence through monitoring, logging, and end-to-end testing, embodying a you-build-it-you-run-it mentality. Additionally, you will provide guidance to other developers and act as a mentor for juniors, helping to cultivate their skills and knowledge.
