SpaceX is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for the User Products team to design and integrate custom products for national security efforts. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to develop high-reliability hardware in Hawthorne, CA.
You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in conceptual design and product development. You possess excellent technical, design, and analysis skills, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with electrical teams to create high-reliability hardware. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for innovation, particularly in challenging environments. You understand the importance of driving projects to completion and are committed to delivering quality results.
Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles is a plus, as is familiarity with government or defense-related projects. You are comfortable working in fast-paced settings and can adapt to changing requirements while maintaining a focus on quality and performance metrics.
As a Mechanical Engineer on the User Products team, you will own the hardware development process from conceptual design through to volume production and in-flight operations. You will develop design criteria and collaborate on requirements to drive system-level optimization. Your role will involve rapidly iterating on designs and analysis to inform high-level systems trades and steer overall product direction. You will focus on creating elegant designs that minimize piece part and process count, ensuring error-proofing at every step of fabrication and integration. Additionally, you will be responsible for generating documentation and supporting the integration of your designs into larger systems, ensuring that all products meet the rigorous standards expected in national security applications.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a collaborative environment that values innovation and encourages you to take ownership of your projects.
